DO FOR OTHERS

(JFK said something like this)

ASK NOT WHAT OTHERS CAN DO FOR YOU,

ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR OTHERS,

especially for the homeless who live in your neighborhood.

AN AMERICAN MANDATE
(President Truman said something like this)

We believe that all men are created equal and have the right to equal treatment under the laws. Therefore, the Waikiki Beach Outreach Ministry support all orders to correct a great injustice and lay the foundation for civil rights laws that secure the rights to all man and women, especially those befallen to homelessness, economic insecurity, and poor mental health in all places and at all times (INCLUDING WAIKIKI).

WE HAVE A DREAM THAT THE HOMELESS ARE RECOGNIZED AS REAL PEOPLE

(Martin Luther King said something like this)

Greetings in the name of Christ Jesus.

We have a dream.

We have a dream that homeless people will be respected as much as our neighbors, business leaders, government leaders, clergy, and family members.

We have a dream.

We have a dream that people throughout the world will desire to make sure the homeless are provided food, drink, shelter, clothing, legal respect, and medical help.

We have a dream.

We have a dream that the prejudices people have about homeless being derelicts, outcasts, and 3rd class people that don't need to be seen will become history.

We have a dream.

We have a dream that the United States will see that the homeless attain the same rights the gay have, the same rights the black have, the same rights women have, the same rights that any minority group in America has.

We have a dream.

We have a dream that the homeless are accepted as an important and integral part of every city.

We have a dream.

We have a dream that our society shows the world that Americans in the US take care of their homeless.

We have a dream.

CAN YOU HELP MAKE THE DREAM POSSIBLE?

DECLARATION OF HOMELESS RIGHTS

On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights the full text of which appears in the following pages. Following this historic act the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize the text of the Declaration and "to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories."  The Waikiki Beach Outreach Ministry also accept this Declaration of Human Rights for ALL HOMELESS, including those who live on Waikiki Beach in the State of Hawaii, USA.

Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family AND OF THE HOMELESS POPULATION is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world,

MORE TESTAMONY

A homeless guy wrote this letter and we shared it with others and we got 60 homeless folks on Waikiki Beach to sign it and we submitted it to Governor Lingle and others.  No response yet.  There are still over 6000 homeless folk on the island of Oahu where the governor and the state representative have promised to end homelessness within 10 years as approved in 2000.  We haven't seen the numbers change one bit and there is still only space for about 200 men and 16 women available on the whole island.  What about the other 5800 folks on this island alone?  We haven't seen even one church within walking distance of Waikiki willing to adopt not even one homeless person, though a few might give them food once or twice a year.  The homeless need food every day, just like you and I.  Is there anyone else who wants to help.  Please call Bob Erb at 808-497-6920 if you can DO something instead of talk about it.

 A Letter FROM the HOMELESS

To Those Who Care:

Please forgive our representatives who are angry with you.  They often are loud and use harsh words because they care about us.  Even Jesus turned over the money changers tables and called the Pharisees, the churches of his day, "snakes, vipers and hypocrites", but He did so for a reason.  When our representatives, Pastor Bob Erb, lawyer Randolph J. Amen and/or brother Todd Morikawa seemed too loud, intense, emotional or even disorderly to you, please know they are just trying to get a message to you.  Your way of helping us is insufficient.  You should listen to them.

From Matthew 25:31-46

31"But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. 32All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate them as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left. 34Then the King will say to those on the right, `Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.'

37"Then these righteous ones will reply, `Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?' 40And the King will tell them, `I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[a] you were doing it to me!'

41"Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, `Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the Devil and his demons! 42For I was hungry, and you didn't feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn't give me anything to drink. 43I was a stranger, and you didn't invite me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me no clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn't visit me.'

44"Then they will reply, `Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?' 45And he will answer, `I assure you, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.' 46And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life."

Our representatives are doing what the Bible commands.  They treat us like Jesus Christ himself.  They are sheep.  You are goats.  If you really want to help us homeless, than heed them; do not criticize them because they dont fit your concept of civility.

If you do not want to help us restore our civil rights, if you dont want to feed us, house us, pray for us, comfort us, then dont.  But please dont act like you care for us and then treat our representatives so inappropriately.  If they are angry at you, it is probably for good reason.  You are being a goat.

                                                Signed, THE HOMELESS

[We would ask the many homeless of Waikiki to add their names under the word "HOMELESS" on this letter and when we get enough, send it to Lingle, Cox, the ACLU lady, the guy who criticized the Petition, Ms. Viotta of the Honolulu Advertiser, and other "goats"]

A few friends of Bob Erb,including Laura Christine Baker and  Robert Perolisi, have written hundreds of poems on www.poetry.com.  One of Bob Parolisi's poems of his sufferings dealing with significant life changing experiences were too large to install on that web site, so, we have included it here for his friends and family to see.

Confusion

The day started off great, the path was clear

As I drove home, here comes the fear

What happened today, what realizations will come

Has there been infidelity, has there been lust

Maybe, but generally just a lack of trust

Is the house clean, are the kids tidy

Laundrys piling up, oh theres my tighty whiteys

The dogs are restless, the house filled with gloom

We all anticipate imminent doom

When is it coming, what will it be

Stay tuned sports fans, wait to see

Will there be love

Will there be truth

The only way to tell is to become a sleuth

Now the proof is found

Where it was once dark, light abounds

The pain is real, the fear realized

Now it is time to discover what is prized

Is it worth the time, is it worth the trouble

How can 1 stay married to a girl in a bubble

Decisions of heart, decisions of mind

God must have been a woman to be so kind

Just end my day with a night cap and joint

Maybe tomorrow will be more on point

One of Laura Christine Baker's poems that Bob Erb considers one of his favorites is located on http://poetry.com/Publications/display.asp?ID=P3804766&BN=999&PN=46.  Check it and others out on www.poetry.com and use their names in your search for what they have written.  Read them all.  They are a ministry of their own.  God bless you as you read His words and those inspired by it.

Another friend, Sharon,  has written a poem as she wrote for me that I would like to share here:

If you listen to the Birds sing as if you can't hear tomorrow,
If you smell the wild flowers as if you can smell tomorrow,
If you look at all the colors or natural as if you can't see tomorrow,
If you taste your food as if you can't taste tomorrow,
If you feel the Love of another person as if you have no feelings tomorrow.
Then you will be glad of what you did today.

In addition Laura Christine Baker has shared a prayer she desires the world to praise God and guide our nation:

Just a short reminder for all

FATHER IN THE NAME OF JESUS we come before you with a HUMBLED HEART as we enter into your courts, and come before THE ROYAL THRONE OF GRACE, and lay down upon your sacred ALTAR all the concerns with the situations that effect those in our BLESSED NATION with the hurricanes, and we say
HALLOWE BE THY NAME, THY KINGDOM COME, THY HOLY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH, AS IT IS IN HEAVEN,
and we look to you LORD GOD as THE CREATOR OF THE BEGINING and the end, as well as THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH, and we know that YOU HOLD ALL POWER, and can do ALL THINGS, and THAT YOU ARE IN CONTROL, and not men.
And LORD we know that your word says If any of you lack WISDOM, let him ask of GOD, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him JAMES 1:
Therefore ABBA FATHER we stand in the gap for ALL OUR LEADERS to be touched by HEAVEN WITH WISDOM in all situations concerning our NATION OF THE UNTIED STATES OF AMERICA.
WE STAND UPON YOUR WORD that says IF any two of you shall touch and agree upon anything it shall be done for you FROM OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.
So LORD we put it your HANDS, and PRAY FOR MERCY for all people.
We LIFT YOU UP, for you are so WORTHY and WORTHY OF ALL OUR PRAISE, and we know that YOU ARE OUR HELP, OUR HOPE, OUR PROVIDER, and OUR PROTECTOR, and OUR HEALER, and we know that we can do ALL THINGS THROUCH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS US, and we PRAY FOR REPENTANCE, and REVIAL for every heart, home, and family across our COUNTRY.
For we know that your WORD says
WHEN A MANS WAYS PLEASE THE LORD, HE MAKETH HIS ENEMIES TO BE AT PEACE WITH HIM. PROVERBS 16: 7
So LORD WE SPEAK PEACE IN THE NAME OF JESUS RIGHT NOW, with the storm, and trying to damage our NATION, we CRY OUT TO YOU TO CALM THE WINDS and the WAVES,,,,,, FOR YOU ARE THE PEACEMAKER, and there is no other like you. NO one can do what JESUS can...........
JESUS TOUCH OUR NATION

IN JESUS PRECIOUS NAME WE PRAY
AMEN
